The Workroom Limited are experts at making curtains, with more than 20 years experience supplying designers, architects and decorators throughout the Wellington region.
All work is carried out by our qualified and experienced staff in our Petone (Lower Hutt) factory, using dedicated plant and machinery.

We can supply lining and interlining including:
- Thermal coated polycotton
- Coated black out polycotton
- Thermal coated polyester (mould resistant)
- Coated black out polyester (mould resistant)
- Uncoated polycotton
- Polyester interlining
- Cotton interlining
Extra finishing touches that we offer are:
- Bagged Edges – side hems are blind stitched to the lining rather than shanked
- French seams – recommended if your curtains are unlined and require joins
- Weighted hems – will help keep the curtain firmly on the ground
- Decorative trims, piping or frills
- Banding or boarders

Curtain heading options
Options for your curtains include :-
- Wave
- Waves in and out – all fabric is visible
- Uses approx. 190% fullness
- Gathered tape (Pencil Pleat) – Options range from 15mm to 150mm wide
- Tight upright pleat
- Uses approx. 200% fullness
- Single pleat
- A single tuck to the front
- Uses approx. 150% fullness (the least amount of fabric)
- Double pleat
- A double tuck to the front
- Uses approx. 220% fullness
- Triple pleat
- A triple tuck to the front
- Uses approx. 250% fullness
- Box (inverted) pleat
- A full pleat to the back
- Looks like a box pleated skirt
- Uses approx. 190% fullness
- New York pleat
- A small pleat to the back
- A tape added to the back gives the front a scalloped look
- User 170% fullness
Measure and installation
Our comprehensive service can include an on-site measure and installation of your curtains and/or blinds.
Our installation expert can remove your existing curtains, and install all curtains, blinds, pelmets and accessories, for a seamless manufacture and installation experience.

Tracks and rods
To bring out the best in your curtains we can provide an end to end process including the supply and installation of a wide variety of curtain tracks or rods.
We have instant access to the Martec brand but can also access and supply products from all the main track and rod producers in New Zealand. This includes, but not is not limited to the following suppliers:
